Bobble news...Texas style

Got a package from "Deep in the heart of Texas" today...and it is Hi-larious!!

Yes, that is a Bobblehead Armidillo named Antonio...as in SAN. Thanks to the newest Texan in the family, Shelley, I now have not just a bobble farm...but a bobble ranch!

I'm not sure what bobblehead dog thinks about it all...he looks a little freaked out if you ask me. Well, understood...I mean how many live armadillos does one see? I mean aren't most of them roadkill?

Shel, I must come to Texas and find a real one to take a Bobble armidillo and real armidillo portrait...with of course, Tumbleweeds.

Thanks Shel !!

This is home...

It's been three years since I've seen this view.
The auction at 105 w. 181st street was 3 years ago today.
It's still home...even if it's now only in my memory....I can still see the people sitting around this table...

This is home...

Directions to here: Sit down and listen to Margaret Becker's "You Remain Unchanged."

Driving across Dakota, I saw an old freight train
That train has crossed this state Through the wind the snow and rain
Now the wheels were rusted golden And it wasn't on a track
Somebody somewhere swore that train would be coming back

You remain
Unchanged, unchanged
You remain
Unchanged, unchanged

Went back to my old house And I parked across the street
I could almost see us there My mother and me
And I could feel her gentle guidance, I could feel her hold me tight
Seems like too many years since she kissed me goodnight

You remain
Unchanged, unchanged
You remain
Unchanged, unchanged
You remain
Unchanged, unchanged

Walking with my father Down the avenue
For every step he took I must've taken two
Now his steps have grown much slower, but time keeps rushing on
We know this life's so fragile, But we're both counting on, that

You remain
Unchanged, unchanged
You remain
Unchanged, unchanged
You remain
Unchanged, unchanged

Amen.

o9.24.o6...lock down

Up north for Sunday dinner...and to see Dad.
Didn't think he would be at Sunday dinner as he is now in the "lock down" part of skilled care (ankle braclet and all), cause he made for the doors and is now considered a "flight risk." He seemed okay at dinner...but who knows? I hate seeing him look so confused and worn out.

Tomorrow night on Main Street

Since I now live in the Arts and Design district and we can't get out of the drive-way because of the Carmel Arts Festival in the front yard...I decided to have a home showing of a film I've been interested in seeing. Here's the evite because freakin' evite website is too frustrating.

What: Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus
When: Saturday, 7:30
Where: My place...located at 30 e. main street in the arts and design district of carmel
Why: Because now or once upon a time I thought you were cool and from what i've seen of the trailer, so is this documentary

There will be snacks and Sweet Jesus cocktails along with non-get drunk beverages.

I have not seen this film. However, it does look like something I would make from all my random road trip clips.
To see the trailer go here: http://www.searchingforthewrongeyedjesus.com/

Disclaimer:
Having said that and provided you with the link to see for yourself, I am not responsible for it's content should it offend you in anyway. Nor am I responsible for any injury you may incur in my messy and seriously overstocked apartment...enter at your own risk...
and oh, you'll probably have to come in from the north side and park somewhere north of our building...since the roads and bank parking are closed...because of the art...blah, blah.

drop me an email if you plan on coming

and hey:

o9.21.o6...dinner with friends

It's been ages since I saw these people!
I crashed the Shopshire/Gaither/Pluess get together so I could see guest of honor, the visiting Swiss.
It was good to see the Shopshires...who I adore and don't see nearly enough of and also good to see Michael again.
Thanks to the Gaither's for the invite.

I have to be honest though...
and I don't think Michael would mind. Seeing Michael is always bittersweet to me as it makes me miss Irina...
she was/is a good friend and a great source of inspiration. I wish I could see her again.

Here's a shot of when we all lived in the same zip code:

oh, and I miss sweet Benjamen too.

o9.18.o6...long day

Never made it to work today...as Dad got out of the hospital and was sent to the skilled care unit at Whittenberg.
It's on the "other side" so have mixed feelings about that...as I think he did too..cause he knew he was going in different doors when we pulled up. It was a long day...with lots of movie moments...which if I was watching a movie...would make me laugh...but it's reality. Ended up at the Ranch...laughing anyway, mostly to keep from crying. Got back to Indy at 2:00 a.m.

o9.17.o6...Zach is four

Came north to sit with Dad in the hospital while Dave and Sandy and Susie and Jerry took in the Bears game. Got to see Sister Patty and Mike and Verna. Dad is a mystery as they have found nothing with the tests...but he still seems miserable with pain.

After Dad fell asleep for the night, went to Matt and Chari's for Zach's birthday party. Here he is with his bobblehead:

o9.16.o6....Thrift Score!

Spent the day at Stewart's Flea Market at the fairgrounds...cause I just don't have enough stuff. Here's the loot:

The cowboy is one of a series that matches two that Sister Susie has from the toys on the shelf in the basement...maybe the Lone Ranger?? The cats are for the boss. The wedding toppers will be used in just the right person's wedding video...and the post cards are mostly big letter names...with a few motel scores for the "then and now" series I have going on. Cathy and Heather, thanks for being patient!

Directions to here:
Take the Wagon to the fairgrounds and dive into the junk filled flea market and look at every single booth and postcard...just because i can cause i'm not with the "speeders"... Susie and Sandy.

The Sounds of Silence

"everynight these silhouettes appear above my head
little angels of the silences that climb into my bed and whisper
everytime i fall asleep everytime i dream
why'd you leave us 'till we're only good for...

waiting for you
all my sins...
i said that i would pay for them if i could come back to you"

from "the angels of the silences"

directions to here: too long and complicated to explain...don't know how i got here myself
