Flashback Friday...Out of the mouths of babes...

Susie told me a story the other day that made me grin ear to ear.

She had the grand kids with her and they stopped by the cemetery.
As they were cleaning the headstone and putting new flowers out,
Jacinda said: "I miss Papa Bob."

When they finished up with the flowers, Jacinda said:
"Should we sing a song?"

They sang: "God Bless America."

Little girl, you make me smile!
Can you imagine the pride on Papa Bob's face to know that he is remembered and missed?
And also, the smile on your Great-Grandma's face to know that even tho you've never met, you've inherited her love of expressing yourself thru the spontaneous singing of a song?

The circle of life is a wondrously beautiful thing!

Yes, Jacinda, absolutely.

We should sing a song!

Picture Roulette # 12

Directions to here:
Somewhere on SR 19 between Elkhart and Noblesville.
I'm looking into programming "the girl" (gps) to see if she can write down and keep track of locations for me. (cause driving, shooting AND writing all at the same time is ridiculous...not that I would know 'bout this.

Flashback Saturday...45 May 9ths

Something I find strange is that with 6 kids
and the amount of pictures that are in the family archive,
there very few pictures of us with birthday cakes.
I'm sure we had them, but where are the pictures?
I suppose mom was too busy serving the cake to take the pictures too.
My favorite birthday gifts as a child?

my blue bike
(last seen leaning up against Matt & Chari's tree)
anything Johnny West
and GI-Joe

Directions to here:
and yes, i know where Johnny and Joe are too.

The question is: do you remember cakes?

Flashback Friday...Unchanged

Before there was dancewithnance productions,
there was Paragon Productions

You Remain Unchanged
is a show we produced in 1993.
The idea for the show came after I used the song as an example in a talk I gave at
Range Line church about Change.
My friend Stacy was the producer.
I was the photographer.

Back then, I clearly knew I would undergo all the changes the song speaks about.
In 2009, they have all come to pass.
And the truth is: everything has changed, but
God has remained unchanged.

Today I went to the funeral of Susie McCracken, who was our lead character in this show.
She was 49.
Her daughter, Molly is the little girl in the black and white segments.
How ironic that, it is now Molly, who is in her mid 20's, that can step into the older role.
I can only hope that this song, this show and this truth can bring her (and her 3 sisters) as much comfort has it has me over the years.
