You seem to have forgotten....

Sister Susie's comment about the "Hair" post...cracked me up.
Because:
1. I can't imagine Jerry, at this day and age, sitting thru a musical...let alone one like Hair.
How in the world did you end up
in Chicago, seeing that show?
But well come to think of it,
Jerry did have a lot of:
 leisure polyester + these sideburns
= hipster.
And I'm so jealous that you saw it live in the 60's! I mean, "When the moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter aligns with mars and peace will guide the planets and lov--uv will steer the stars...Age of Aquarius, Let the sunshine in  and all that Hair, where, Hair...with a young Diane Keaton,  Meat Loaf and Tim Curry on stage!
Because:
2. You said your first and last time seeing nudity on stage, but you seem to have forgotten 48 hours in Vegas and the...('cuse me, kids and young readers) "Tits-a-Poppin" Show Girls after 10pm version show where Jerry and Dave were wide eyed and yawning at the same time!
Oh, but wait, I forgot, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" Maybe that's why you didn't mention that show!

Speaking of Hair

Cori's comment about seeing "Hair" for the first time 3 months ago reminded me of something I've tried several times to put out of my mind.
Can you believe I made my mom take me to see "Hair" at the Crown Point theatre...when I was oh, say 12 or so...much too young to understand half the content.
But that's not the worst of it.
I made her sit 1 or 2 rows behind me and my friends.

It's one of the things that my now over 40 year old self remembered one day and ever since have wished she was still here so I could formally apologize and then have an adult laugh over it.

So, I'll say it again:

"I'm sorry, Mom : ( "
"And thank you for still loving me even when I was a surly pre-teen."

ok...so i guess it was rated PG..but I still feel horrible about the seating arrangement.

First shorts, Brown haired Cori, Shaken not stirred

Three Beautiful Things

Three Beautiful Things is a blog that I happened upon, bookmarked and check in often.
There are rarely pictures and it's simply three things that the author notices during the day that are worth mentioning.
I thought I'd try it for today.

1. First Shorts.
I've gone from long PJ pants to short boxers while at home ("houseclothes" as Heidi used to say), but today was the first day this spring of wearing shorts outside. Winter is officially over.

2. Brown Haired Cori...
Welcomed me and thanked me for shopping at Meijer. She was Cori with brown hair, even with the glasses, but of course not as beautiful as the real, only one, Cori.

3. Shaken, not stirred...
As in Anne Sheridan cocktails, shaken in my .99 cent Pottery Barn silver cocktail shaker, for Thursday TV night, which we had on Saturday. The drink of the week was in honor of Kirsten's friend Ann, who joined us for the premiere of Season 3 of Sopranos and Six Feet Under.

It was amazing how in such a short trip I noticed so many things...just because I was looking.

Flashback Friday...Out (in the) House

Don't ask me how I know this...but April 18 is the
Official Poop for Peace Day.

Yep, that's right, the topic that always comes up at Sunday Dinner, has it's own day.
From the website:
Poop For Peace Day is about acknowledging the fundamental basis of shared humanity: black or white, liberal or conservative, Christian or Muslim or Jew, we are all united in struggle against the tyranny of the bowel.

International Days promoting peace usually have representatives so in
the most unusual flashback friday post ever, here are our very own Poop for Peace Ambassadors, reminding us that "We can do it!!...Give Peace A chance!"

Honorable mention goes to this kid (ask her about the day at the lake)

Flashback Friday...The American Soldier

Seeing Sergeant James Rockhill standing tall in his uniform the other night, surrounded by his loved ones,
made me think of another Sergeant at his homecoming.
Then
and Now

" And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh, and I don't want to die for you
but if dyin's asked of me
I'll bear that cross with honor
'cause freedom don't come free

I'm an American soldier, an American
beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand
When Liberty's in jeopardy, I will always do what's right
I'm out here on the front line
Sleep'in in peace at night
American soldier, I'm an American soldier "
(from "American Soldier" by Toby Keith)

Ah, Love... : )

I won't tell you about the mystery of the lost camcorder cord, or the near dead camcorder battery, or discovering that the extra camcorder battery is dead, or breaking into Rhonda's apartment to borrow her camcorder but not being able to find it, or leaving late and/or getting caught in night construction during the 15 minute window that cranes were unloading steel beams on 465.
I will tell you that even tho I missed this part:
I did get to see this part:
and the look of BLISS on Shel's face was worth the ride.
Welcome home, James!
We are proud of you and are glad you are home safe.

And for those of you who've seen the movie:
"Way to go, Shel" (Paula)

In case you were wondering, the next time you two are meeting each other from opposite ends of the room (in August), the battery will be charged and I won't be late!

Bust a Move Monday...or get a refund

The Leapers

Well, I talked to Sandy and she said she was giving everyone's money back for the Biggest Loser
because no one's trying.

I said "I'm trying....and I'm failing...but at least I'm trying."

So, I'm a trier and a failer...but at least I'm trying.

Welcome to mid-life.

Flashback Friday....We Cousins

After posting last week's Flashback Friday about Grandpa Bryant, I emailed all the Turner/Bryant cousins that I had addresses for.
It's been fun getting a few emails back and hearing from cousins I haven't seen in awhile or know little about. I've thought a lot this week about how cool it is to have and be a cousin.
Cousins
They kinda look like you, but also have a different bloodline thrown in to make them unique.
Cousins
They know the same general stories as you, but often tell it from a different perspective.
Cousins
They have some of the same pictures that your mom or dad took, but theirs are taken from the other side of the room by your Aunt or Uncle.
Cousins
They go on and on to the inth degree making the potential family reunion the size of a large town or a small city.

I love being a cousin.
I love having cousins.

Then
and now:
Vandercar Cousins

I want to hear from you.
I'm working on making a family website.
Until then, pass this page along to all the cousins you know and send me your and any email addresses I may not have.
Let's start the family reunion via the world-wide-web.
