Flashback Friday....More than a House

Somewhere in my landfill of paper, is a letter.

A hand written letter to me from my brother, Dave.

Yes, Dave wrote me a letter.

I was a missionary on a journey behind the Iron Curtain and Dave was on a home building journey involving iron and curtains.

I don't remember the exact wording, but he said something about the year of building the house was taking forever and had seemed like the longest year of his life. He mused that if he wanted to feel like he was living forever, he would just build a house every year...so every year would seem as long as that one...forever.

Build it they did, and if I had all the pictures scanned that are sitting next to that landfill of paper, I could show you how that long year of building paid off.
Because, long before the Sunday Dinner gatherings (in the digital era)...
there were pictures, as in hard copy photographic prints, that are full of family, holidays, parties and celebrations.

Until I scan more of those....here's a walk down 203rd memory lane

A House is more than a just a House.
It is Home to these four
a place to make and to reflect on memories made
a place to celebrate the seasons
 Spring

Summer
Fall

Winter

a place to welcome new life to the family
and to celebrate the passing of the years
a place to hang out
 and play....

and eat...
and play some more...
and eat some more....

A place to laugh and be silly
 and to relax and unwind
 a place to share stories

 a place where you belong

a place that feels like Home
so to Dave & Sandy
and the home that took you "forever" to build...
